In my high school yearbook (1965) John Mickola wrote the Latin phrase below with a Ha!Ha! you'll never know. Well it took 46 years but I finally have the solution.
gutta cavat lapidem, non vi, sed saepe cadendo: The drop hollows out the stone by frequent dropping, not by force; constant persistence gains the end.
Interestingly, my methods of getting things done follows the path of planting seeds to an idea and then watering the idea until it grows.I recognize that one of my gifts is the ability to make people change their ways but I do not use force but time. John Mickola's quote came very true in how my success in my career has taken place.

Mother Theresa
Haven't taken the time to write anything for a while. Hopefully I will get back to completing my journal of entries in a more timely fashion.
Someone else's thoughts!!!
There’s no time for regrets. Life is too short for that. Do what you feel you need to do. Love the people around you. Love without having expectations. Give without expecting for anything in return - because that is the greatest gift a person can have.
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Be good anyway.
Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People need help, but may attack you if you try to help them.
Help them anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

Childhood Dreams
Randy Paush did a last lecture about his childhood dreams. Randy had a terminal disease and his story is a very moving one. Thinking about my dreams I was able to come up with a few ideas:
1.Playing Major League Baseball
2.Being successful at something
3.Marrying my high school sweetheart
Obviously I did not make the major leagues. However, I continue to have a love for the game. I also with limited talent was able to play at the Little League level (an All Star), Babe Ruth level, High School level and Division 3 College level. I also coached at the Little League, Babe Ruth and college levels. I learned a great deal about people and how one approaches situations to make them better through my playing and coaching. This has been very helpful in my #2 goal of being successful at something. I am very proud of my work in education. I have had the honor of being a classroom teacher for 17+ years, an Asst Principal for 8 years and a Principal of 3 building for 17 years.
My third goal (most important) came back to me in February of 1976 when I had a chance meeting with Linda. This meeting eventually led to our marriage 1977 and my becoming a father to Kelley and Aaron and then Ashley. I have been truly blessed!

Roberto Clemente (1934-1972)
Quotable Quotes from Roberto Clemente
"Why does everyone talk about the past? All that counts is tomorrow's game."
"If you have an opportunity to make things better, and you don't do that, you are wasting your time on this earth."
"Why does everyone talk about the past? All that counts is tomorrow's game."

Roberto Clemente Walker (August 18, 1934 – December 31, 1972) was a Puerto Rican Major League Baseball right fielder. He was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, the youngest of seven children. Clemente played his entire 18-year baseball career with the Pirates (1955–72). He was awarded the National League's Most Valuable Player Award in 1966. Clemente was selected to participate in the league's All Star Game on 12 occasions. He won 12 Gold Glove Awards and he led the league in batting average in four different seasons. He was also involved in humanitarian work in Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, often delivering baseball equipment and food to them. He died in an aviation accident on December 31, 1972, while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. He was elected to the Hall of Fame posthumously in 1973, thus becoming the first Latin American to be selected and the only current Hall of Famer for whom the mandatory five-year waiting period has been waived since the wait was instituted in 1954. Clemente is also the first Hispanic player to win a World Series as a starter (1960), win a league MVP award (1966) and win a World Series MVP award (1971).
Education World: The More Books at Home, The Higher the Child’s Education
My school recently had a visitor (Barbara Dalio) who had expressed an interest in helping our students achieve success. I took Barbara and others on a tour of our school. During the tour I talked about some of the wonderful programs we have developed to support our students. Barbara asked us to write up a proposal about a need for our school. I have always tried to get books into children's hands over my career. I support a Student of the Week which allows me to give a book to each child (about 20 books each week. I also support a 3 Thumbs Up Award (caught being good) which also allows me to give out a book to that child. I also made a connection with Books2Connect which gives each child a book for their birthday. These books are books that go home and become part of the child's home library. Our proposal for Barbara was written by Jenna Masone, Asst Principal and it requested that each child would receive 5 books (3 non-fiction) during this school year. Well, Barbara's foundation (Dalio Foundation) accepted the proposal an awarded us $10,920 to purchase the books. Our hope that this year each child will receive 10 books for their home library. Daughter Getting Married
Ashley and Richie Sun are getting married this Saturday in Oregon. Linda and myself will be flying out tomorrow morning and we will return July 8th. It will be an exciting day for Linda and myself and we are looking forward to seeing the two of them on Saturday. The wedding is suppose to take place overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I believe 26 people are flying out to attend the wedding. I wish that their marriage is as happy as my marriage has been. Richie is a great guy and the two of them seem to have lots of interst in common. Kelley has already flown out as well as Ashley and Richie's mother. Looking forward to a great day!
