He's Alive!

When I was about 11 years old I was playing near our old swing set and there were several neighborhood kids in the yard. Roger Stone was 3 years older than me and he picked up a wooden bat and old bicycle horn. He tossed the horn up into the air and hit it with the bat. The rubber part struck his brother Dennis in the stomach and the metal part tore apart and struck me in my right ear. I went down and there was blood. Dennis got up and saw me laying still. Dennis ran into the house and yelled to my mother "David's dead!" Obviously my mother rushed out of the house to find her child alive but covered in blood.

Another story about Dennis Stone: Dennis (age about 12)would capture small chickadees and he painted their breast with red Mercurochrome and then let them free. While a few weeks later there was a news article in the local paper about a different looking chickadee located in Ashby. It seems that the bird watchers were very excited about their new find.
