911

This year I am filling in as an asst principal at Fall Brook until the end of the school year. Someone reminded me of what Fall Brook had in the pass. We had a pay telephone booth in a hallway that led into the main hallway. We had a family night function going on in the school. Several parents and myself were in the front hallway. A police car pulled up to the front of the school. Two officers entered the building and informed me that they had received a 911 call. Just as they finish two fourth grade boys came running around the corner from the hallway that had the phone booth. Seeing the police both boys blurted out that they didn't call 911. Two embarrassed parents looked at their children and I am sure the children didn't have a happy ride home.

Interim Asst Principal

Organization image

Right before Thanksgiving I started an Interim Asst Principal job at Fall Brook School. This position will last for the rest of the school year. So far it has been interesting as I try to learn new faces and names. There are about a dozen people left over from my time 1999 to 2003 as a principal at Fall Brook. It has taken a little while to get use to being back at work. The students have been great and staff has been very friendly.

Harry S. Truman 1948 Speech in San Antonio, Texas

"Our government is made up of the people. You are the government, I am only your hired servant. I am the Chief Executive of the greatest nation in the world, the highest honor that can ever come to a man on earth. But I am the servant of the people of the United States. They are not my servants. I can't order you around, or send you to labor camps or have your heads cut off if you don't agree with me politically. We don't believe in that...."

Winter Wonderland

Yesterday we had a beautiful winter day with the sun shining. Today it is snowing for the past 5 hours  and it looks like we have a few more hours. Very small flakes so it isn't to deep ( about 2 inches). New England at its finest!

Chip

I went with Bob Salvatelli today to visit an old friend who is suffering from a form of dementia. Raymond "Chip" Schneider is in an assisted living residence in Ashland, MA. Chip was a fellow educator as well as a friend I spent a lot of time with during my 20's. I didn't see him in the last 6 or 7 years as our lives changed. I was made aware of Chip's situation about 1 year ago. I have been trying to go see him and finally got the chance. Chip did not recognize me at first but after my name was said he smiled and said David Hay. We spent an hour with him talking about old times. Chip couldn't add much to the conversation but he would chuckle and smile every so often. I plan on asking a few other friends to visit with Chip in the near future. He needs to see people that care about him.
